Product Applications

The semiconductor industry uses hydrofluoric acid to remove the oxide compounds on the silicon surface and to etch glass. In the “acid leaching” process to remove the oxygen-containing impurities from the surface of stainless steel, hydrofluoric acid is also used. In the refinery, it can be used as the catalyst for the alkylation reaction of isobutane and butane. Hydrofluoric acid is also used in the syntheses of various fluorine-containing organic compounds, as such Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene) and Freon-type of refrigerants.
